Mugavu Serving Board & Soapstone Holder
Couldn't load pickup availability
Crafted from deeply grained Mugavu wood, this prep and serving board is as stunning as it is durable. Hand carved, each board undergoes a long sanding process and is then oiled to highlight the natural grain. Each board is individually crafted from start to finish by a group of woodworkers in a fair trade environment in Kampala, Uganda.
To highlight and store the beautiful board when not in use, we've included a holder – crafted from smooth, marbled soapstone. No two pieces of soapstone are exactly alike, making this holder unique and rare. Each holder is individually crafted from start to finish by a group of hand-chiselers in a fair trade environment in the Tabaka Hills of Kenya.
- Dimensions: 9”H x 9”W
- Materials: Mugavu wood + Soapstone
- Colors: Dark brown with natural wood grain, a cream base with blush and grey marbling. Because soapstone is a natural material, veining and color variations will occur.
- Origin: Uganda + Kenya
Board: Keep the board clean by hand washing with mild soap and lukewarm water. Avoid letting it stand or soak in water. Disinfect occasionally with vinegar and baking soda or sea salt. To prevent splintering and fraying for a long-lasting, smooth surface, it is recommended that you occasionally apply a beeswax salve or food-safe mineral oil. If cared for well, the board will develop a silky patina over time.
HOLDER: Wipe clean with a soft cloth. If needed, rinse with soap and water, but never leave soaking or submerged in water. Towel dry immediately.
